Abdominoplasty

Objective

Abdominoplasty, also called "tummy tuck", is a procedure for those who have excess tummy fat, loose skin, and weak abdominal muscles. It is most common in women after pregnancies, but also after changes in weight. The main goal of a tummy tuck is to remove excess abdominal fat (often using liposuction), get rid of excess, sagging skin, and tighten the "ab" muscles.

Fat accumulating in the waistline and love-handles can be difficult to lose, even with the best diet or intensive exercise program.Loose abdominal skin can make it difficult to find clothing that fits well and can even interfere with daily activities.

If you are considering a tummy tuck, reaching your ideal weight(or as close as possible) before the surgery often leads to the best results. If, on the other hand, you have no loose skin but only excess fat then you may benefit from liposuction alone.

The Procedure

The most common type of tummy tuck involves an incision in the lower abdomen (below the underwear line) and another around the bellybutton. The procedure involves removing excess skin and tightening the belly and, if necessary, the muscles of the abdominal wall. The excess skin having been removed, results in a flatter, more youthful-looking abdomen. If the abdomen has stretch marks, they may be withdrawn or, at the very least, their appearance greatly improved. We can also perform a liposuction (lipoplasty) of the abdomen at the same time, if necessary.

This surgery provides a very strong aesthetic satisfaction and greater comfort in everyday life. During your consultation, our surgeons will also discuss with you all aspects related to this type of procedure, its benefits as well as the risks that may be involved.
